Mick Jagger and Martin Scorcese Together Again, Van Halen Kihnspiracy?, Twelve-Neck Guitar, Lou Reed and Phillip Glass

• Mick Jagger and Martin Scorcese are making a movie about something to do with music or something.
• The Van Halen reunion is in jeopardy! So is the Greg Kihn Band reunion (but that's a good thing in their case).
• It's hard to play a twelve-neck guitar! But sometimes you just need that sweet twelve-neck sound you can't get out of any other guitar.
• Lou Reed played with Phillip Glass at Carnegie Hall to benefit Tibet House. Also, loureed.org has some cool new (to me) stuff, including lots of good videos. Check him out in an old Night Flight article where he talks about his dedication to having fun among other things. (You have to navigate a bunch of floating links on the rights side of the site, but it's worth it.) One last thing: Don't you talk to him about work.

From USA's "Night Flight": Malcolm McLaren's "Punk It Up (I'm a Sex Pistol)"

I'll let the poster describe this one: "Rare clip, taken from USA Night Flight's Video Profile. Grainy quality, unfortunately." It also has a vertical-hold problem every once in a while, but I must say this is quite Advanced. For one, it shows that McLaren embraced World Music (which is big for the Advanced), but also because he says he is a Sex Pistol, even though he really wasn't. This is good stuff. Might as well try "Buffalo Gals" while you're at it.

Friday Afternoon Videos: Kraftwerk, New York Dolls, Kiss, Roxy Music, the Police

It's the next best thing to watching an old episode of Night Flight!

• Kraftwerk: Live in Rio, 1998 . I can't imagine anything better than going to a Kraftwerk show in Rio.
  
• New York Dolls "Personality Crisis" (Musik Laden 1973) Hot stuff.
  
• Kiss: "Detroit Rock City" from the Halloween special (with Paul Lynde!) I fell in love with that night.
• Roxy Music: "Ladytron." You're going to love their clothes, I guarantee it.
• The Police: "Can't Stand Losing You." Oh Sting, you confound me.
  

Ronnie James Dio's Butterfly Ball

I found this cartoon looking for old "Night Flight" clips. It's a pretty weird cartoon with a singing frog whose voice just happens to be that of Ronnie James Dio. There's some inappropriate stuff tacked on the end, so when the cartoon stops, you might want to stop the video, especially if you are at work.

Andre "3000" Benjamin, one-half of hip-hop duo OutKast, has signed on to his first major studio project, a Paramount Pictures drama starring Mark Wahlberg. The untitled film, formerly known as "Four Brothers," revolves around four brothers who seek to avenge their mother's death.

Tyrese ("The Flight of the Phoenix") and Garrett Hedlund ("Friday Night Lights") also are on board. They'll play Andre 3000's siblings along with Wahlberg, who was previously announced as one of the brothers. Principal photography is scheduled to begin Monday in Toronto. John Singleton will direct.

Andre 3000's previous forays into cinema include the upcoming MGM feature "Be Cool" and Guy Ritchie's "Revolver." He also is starring in HBO's untitled OutKast movie.

I keep waiting for the backlash against OutKast (and particularly Andre 3000) to begin, but maybe it will never happen. Let's hope not.
