Prince to Give Ronnie Wood the Sheena Easton Treatment?

Here is something interesting:
Rolling Stones rocker RONNIE WOOD has been picked for a live duet with pop superstar PRINCE, according to his daughter. Leah Wood...claims he requested the rocker join him on stage at a recent gig in London. Unfortunately, Ronnie had to snub the offer due to pre-arranged travel commitments.... She says, "Prince called up my dad an hour before his show in Camden, and asked him to join him on stage. "I'm going to spike up his hair especially."
Prince's taste in proteges has certainly changed in his old age.

Guess we'll just have to settle for Joe Perry and Sanjaya which is the next best thing.

I'd much rather like to see Janis Joplin, Curt Kobain, Jimmy Hendrix, or Michael Hutchence perform with Prince.

If I had a say in this I'd prefer to see a live band as opposed to dead people. There are too many dead people.

Anonymous said...

Well then, who would you like to see alongside Prince?

Anonymous said...

I like Cobain but why not a living member from Nirvana?

Anonymous said...

AH yes the Foo Fighters!

Anonymous said...

Yes, the FOO FIGHTERS.......

Anonymous said...

Do you agree that Dave Grohl could go solo?

Anonymous said...

A Foo Fighter. Why not? He almost went solo in the Stairway to Heaven song...

Anonymous said...

Oh mann, I love to here that song on my nokia. Game on World!

hear

Foo Fighter and Stairway to Heaven?

Yeah! Great song!
Are you affraid of the end of the world, caroline?

He performed a humorous version on The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn, where he pretended to forget the lyrics.

Anonymous said...

He forgot to tattoo the lyrics across his body then ;-)

Anonymous said...

maybe he did not want to have a bustle in his hedgerow. Or the number...

Anonymous said...

I'd say DO be alarmed now

Anonymous said...

Indeed. Although the real lyrics are a definite yet mysterious sign as well.

I always thought the lyrics were quite spiritual:

And as we wind on down the road, Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know, Who shines white light and wants to show. How everything still turns to gold

Absolutely. I always picture a Jacob's ladder listening to that verse.

but no angels involved then?

And if you listen very hard, The tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all. To be a rock and not to roll. Talking about rock&roll - Did you know The Killer married a 13 year old girl?

I think Huey Lewis & The News is much better

The Killer? From Louisiana?

Anonymous said...

The same...

I think I know. GBoF?

Goodness gracious, thank you!

Let me help you if she's shaking your nerves and rattling your brain.

I took a lucky shot but I got a ticket to The Spits for 14-06-2007

Anonymous said...

Maybe I'll see you there then.

Wasn't it hard, mysterious and noisy again? Sean Wood in a graduation robe on stage. That stirs memories... When they played Tired & Lonely I thought I'd weep.

Anonymous said...

Tired & Lonely was the only song I really felt. Yes, it was hard. A bit too hard for my taste. Witch Hunt made my blood run cold. I'm not such a punk lover I'm afraid. More into nicer stuff.

Anonymous said...

When they played No Place To Live, it was if the crowd was afraid somehow.

Reading your mind!

Have you seen Erin Wood going outrageous on She Don't Kare?

Anonymous said...

Hello, how are you?

Anonymous said...

I'm fine thanks. I am normally more into Prince (not the AFKAP period) but I did like Broose Young's drunken vocals in Take Pleasure In Someone Else's Pain. He surely beats Tom Waits.

Heartattack and Vine!

Waits is genuine, he said: "If Michael Jackson wants to work for Pepsi, why doesn't he just get himself a suit and an office in their headquarters and be done with it".

Anonymous said...

"I have adamantly and repeatedly refused this dubious honour."

Anonymous said...

Which resulted in Beautiful Maladies and Night on Earth. My favourites. Can you imagine night on earth, the whole earth? Surreal!

Anonymous said...

I always stick to Waits performing "What Keeps Mankind Alive?" from The
Threepenny Opera.

Anonymous said...

According to Waits mankind is Lost in the Stars (The Music of Kurt Weill,
same opera I believe).

timecheck : now is 14:27

Caroline, wasn't your favourite Waits tour Real Gone?

Anonymous said...

I considered Real Gone to be number one on my list but I thought women need to show more courage. So I'd choose One from the Heart, Ian!

Anonymous said...

Bear in mind that Tom Moon describes Waits's voice as a "broad-spectrum
assault weapon". "More courage" would be an understatement I'd say.

Anonymous said...

Rest my case. "Goin' Out West" now.

Anonymous said...

I know a "Short Cut(s)"

Anonymous said...

I suddenly remember the Tin Hat Trio: Waits appearing as a guest singer on
"Helium Reprise".

Anonymous said...

Was that the same performance he did for Dead Man Walking?

Anonymous said...

No, Waits performed original compositions of "Fall of Troy" and "Walk Away" for that film's soundtrack.

Anonymous said...

That was courageous of him. Not wanting to have "the dubious honour".

Anonymous said...

Tom Waits will always be genuine, just like you said. Fall of Troy was
amazingly good: "Now he'll have to find his own way home, boys - He'll have to find his own way home".

Anonymous said...

"Out the door and through the woods, There is a world where nothing grows"

Anonymous said...

"But it's the same with men as with horses and dogs: Nothing wants to die".

Anonymous said...

Tom Waits was a really big star, years ago.
