Frank Black and Herman Brood

Andrew from Jimmy Paige's Sweater Vest sent me a note arguing that Frank Black's new album is Advanced. His arguments:
He's released an album under the name Black Francis (point 1). All the songs on it reference "eccentric Dutch painter/musician Herman Brood," the press kit says (point 2). And [t]here's a song called "Test Pilot Blues" (point 3).
Point 1 is the most persuasive in my opinion. Anyway, this is something to keep an eye on!

for me it's point 3, thought it would've been better if it was "test pilot rock."

the artist that he's referencing in point 2 seems so esoteric that it's more of an overt move as opposed to lou's use of poe on "the raven".

agreed on all counts.

the artist is not esoteric, but is a typical Dutch artist and represents the freedom of speech and arts and being we used to have before the new cult of standardisation ;).

Point one isn't very advanced, because Frank Black went under the name Black Francis before he switche them up. point Two is definitely worthy. In any case I would describe Frank black as advanced in the same way that sting is advanced, but that's just me.
