- Lou Reed opened WTC 7 yesterday, playing "Perfect Day" and "Sweet Jane." He also had this to say: "Have you seen John McCain's speech at the New School? He'll never get elected by anybody over sixth-grade education!" In other words, he'll win in a landslide.
- Led Zeppelin were honored by the King of Sweden as "great pioneers" of rock music. I wonder if he and Prince Charles ever get into arguments about who is better, Zeppelin or Leonard Cohen.
- Before he died, John Peel was working on a collection of 78s. It's out now, and it's called John Peel and Sheila: The Pig's Big 78s.
- They Might Be Giants have ringtones, including the very funny "Call Connected Thru the NSA."
- Willie Nelson wants to tour with the Rolling Stones. I wonder if that's just the weed talking.

Oh, I kind of have a problem with Lou's foray into political judgements. I don't think his political evocations are anything more than a cursory dissmisive of the current neocon admininistration, without any backing of who or what he believes in. A criticism of his New York album years ago by a few writers was that he pointed out a lot of problems with the Big City/Social Issues, but never gave an indication of how to fix it. Rage at the machine, tear it down, and then what?
