Ween Likes A Jazzman

So I hear Ween has a new album out with David Sanborn guesting on sax. I don't think I need to add anything here.

...but can Ween ever be advanced? I mean, their country album used established country studio musicians, but the lyrics were overt. And I fully expect this new album will be overt as well.

A very good question. the answer is probably No, but it's fun to watch what they'll do next. And I would say that they totally understand Advancement, it's just that they can't completely embrace it.

alright, jason I'd like to suggest that being completely aware of advanced theory makes it impossible for a musician to advance. every attempt would be an overt stab at becoming advanced. geniuses trip into advancement because their own pigheaded ways lead them to it. they don't think "god, people are going to be pissed off when they hear this..." what do you think. can a musician set off on a career for the sole purpose of advancement and still advance/still be a genius?

I think you can be aware of Advancement and still be Advanced, but you can't do things on purpose to become Advanced, if that makes sense. Basically, the Advanced can't help themselves. They have to be Advanced. I guess if you've made a conscious decision to be Advanced, then you aren't Advanced. There are a lot of worse ways to be Overt, though...

...or is the point that advancement is a form of genius, so that yes, you can be aware of it, but, no, you can't just achieve it by simply setting out to achieve it?
